WHO Slurps - To Organise a Protest Group
|
This is me putting myself forward as Bom did to get together with like minded West Ham fans and challenge the board. We might be 10 strong to start, but if people fancy this, we could meet in London and start initial protest plans, even if they are small to begin with.
We have to start somewhere and an organised meet might get things moving.

The biggest shock to the three cunts won't be in the form of any protest, it will be attendance figures next year.
Huge numbers of ST holders already leaving their seats empty won't have gone unnoticed.
I don't think you'll see a change in attitude until they panic around renewal time, regardless of which division we are in.
I used to take pride in attendance during relegation battle seasons, but for me turning up whilst they treat supporters with contempt like this is tantamount to crossing the picket lines.
And I do realise how melodramatic that sounds.
Biggest protest is not turning up. They have the numbers going through the gates - they know.
To think there are people who think they are the best owners we have ever had. Laughable.

There are maybe 1100 'active' members of this forum, of which maybe there are @20 occassional old timers who when bored, bothered or lonely try to post some rational thoughts. Then there are the maybe half a dozen to a dozen whining, whinging post BFC cnts who slag everything and think the 4 miserable years under Dullardyce were the 'West Ham Way' and the 'glory days'. So good luck to starting a 'protest' group without any objective or purpose. You'll get 5 people in a pub, 2 who don't know who West Ham are and 2 with serious challenges (take your pick from a variety of politically incorrect physical and mental afflictions) . And you.

Oh and I'm stubborn.
PS, I will be emailing the club today in the hope of reaching out initially and I will report any response. I don't hold out for any response, but you never know.

Mashed you raise salient points. I suppose in my case it's wanting a piece of the old to accompany the new.

Good to see people popping their heads above the parapets. Its all too easy to let the board do as they wish. I'd be happy to join in with any organised protest . We never really have fought for our interests against this board. Time to do so now.

"They should want to bridge the gap, because they'll do anything in their power to do so if we're relegated. "
Unfortunately they won't, they'll either invest as much money into transfers as they can or they'll sell up to some Arab and fuck off. Whether or not a few thousand customers show up or not has likely been factored into their business plan, and if another few thousand plebs with nothing to do keep making life difficult for them they'll happily get rid of them and possibly take a bit of a hit.
Sorry to sound so defeatist, I hope I'm wrong, tbf. Good luck to anyone who gets something going.

My thoughts too Mashed. 2500 people is less than 5 percent of the total capacity of the stadum. They just don't need to care about such a small minority. Spectators, not fans is what they want.

I am banking on them reading the forums.
They should want to bridge the gap, because they'll do anything in their power to do so if we're relegated.
So we can reach out and come to an arrangement to coexist together. But if they are not interested in existing side-by-side, then they'll lose fans and if we're relegated, it'll be like watching the Titanic hitting an iceberg.

You're absolutely bang-on but unfortunately this isn't like Celtic or Palace. Or even West Ham a few years ago when "the club" gave a fuck what the fans thought.
At West Ham now "the club" and the fans/customers are completely separate. They would sooner ban 5,000 "troublemakers" to make room for sanitised daytrippers who keep their gobs shut and spend their money, than they would put themselves out for what they probably see as a minority of violent drunken hooligans who need to get a life.
Here's a thought; they probably have people reading these forums and Facebook looking out for posts on any sort of protest so they can step up security a bit.

I'd be a lot happier if they let fans act like fans, stand sing get behind the team without the risk of a ban so yes. The way the have managed the treatment of fans so far is fucking disgusting. They seem to just want to completely sanitise our support and it never needed to be like this.
Obviously with the way we are performing on the pitch it's not exactly pleasant but we have had it worse in that department.

HOped it wouldn't be the case, but always thought that the way supporters would be handled in respect of standing etc at the OS would be OTT and heavy handed.
I never thought anyone would be banned though for a flag or that the heavy handiness and scattergun approach would reach the levels of an appetite and incompetence, that it would have to result in bans given out so readily, that they'd be rightly overturned quickly after.
THen you remember this...
"LIsten to the supporters - you who follow us every week, whether near of far, are the true owners"
REally?
WEll I doubt even the despicable Oyston at Blackpool would be sanctioning the kind of bans that our Board are at the present time.
THey have a contempt for part of this clubs fan base at the present time, that can't even be matched by him.
YOu know who is responsible at the club for sanctioning, encouraging and relishing this current situation.
WHen you're banning fans quicker than Oyston would at Blackpool, as a.Board that claims to understand the role of the fans, then you really have hit a shameful low.
